Come with me as I dive into the wonderful and expansive history of mermaids. from their mythologies to their influences in modern media. Words can't even begin to express how much these mythological creatures mean to me and how much they have made a difference in my life. This will have a second part to it when I have Michelle with me as we go into our thoughts, feelings, and more when swimming in a mermaid tail.
Do you have a favorite mythological creature and if so, what is it?

The Congress Hotel - The Ghosts of Chicago
Thursday Nov 21, 2024
Thursday Nov 21, 2024
I want to preface this by saying this episode contains mention of violence, murder, and suicide. If any of these topics are triggering, please skip this episode and check out our other episodes.
We venture into Adam Selzer's book "The Ghosts of Chicago" today and check into the Congress Hotel. Originally built in 1893, this hotel became home to people from different walks of life, and with that, came different tragedies that befell those that entered its walls. Stories of shadow figures, trickster spirits, a past president, gangsters, and more can be found here.
Have you ever stayed at this hotel and if so, have you had any spooky experiences while there?
If so, leave them in the comments below and perhaps I will dive into them for an episode!

Ghostly Echoes of Michigan's Ghost Stories: A Halloween Special
Thursday Oct 31, 2024
Thursday Oct 31, 2024
Happy Halloween or a Blessed Samhain to you all!
These four stories come from Dan Asfar's "Ghost Stories of Michigan" and while not extremely scary, each has a very different supernatural vibe for the spirit of the season. I have to say that learning about the Calumet Theatre in the Upper Peninsula was one of my favorite things about this one, including that of The Blue Man. I want to jump back into this book of the stories I have heard from my fellow investigators! So many more locations added to my bucket list and hopefully next year, I'll be able to visit them.
Do you have any spooky tales or legends from growing up?
If so, leave them in the comments below and perhaps I will dive into them for an episode!

The Real Silent Hill - Centralia, Pennsylvania
Thursday Oct 24, 2024
Thursday Oct 24, 2024
On this spooky night, we venture into Silent Hill or by its proper name, Centralia, Pennsylvania. This has been a topic that has interested me for over a decade now, a teenager fascinated and frightened by the imagery of Silent Hill, only to find out as I got older that the town was based on a real location. I was watching the videos for the city, seeing its spooky abandoned streets, the steam vents popping up out of nowhere, the eeriness of the graveyards, the residents from the mines, and the fire ever burning below. I found myself back to being that teenager, both frightened and fascinated by what the mysteries of this town holds.
We have so many exciting things coming up this week and I can't wait to tell you how they went on the next episode! Be on the lookout!

We venture into a realm Julia has never gone down before, with a request from Trevor of What Goes Bump in the Night as she covers Soldiers experiencing the paranormal or the unexplained. The episode went differently than I initially thought, but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless. Let me know if there are any other subjects you would like me to cover as we enter spooky season!

This week, I decided to read out of Caroline Taggart's book "Does A Bear Shit in the Woods?" Answers to Rhetorical Questions. Many have heard many of these asked over time and wondered "Is there even a proper answer to that?" And long story short...yeah there is! I picked up this fun and interesting book at the library where I work and decided to give it a shot here on the podcast. Because honestly, why not?

Hello and welcome to the podcast's fourth episode as we dip our toes into the crazy and wonderful world of cryptids and legends. I decided to go with one that is lesser known and this one fascinated me since while on the way down to The Bell Mansion (listen to episode two for that adventure). It's not every day you come across local legends in sleepy towns!

Midwestern Vibes
This is what happens when you take four nerdy Midwesterners, obsessed with paranormal investigations and give them an outlet for their weirdness. Full of long windeded stories and that all famous Midwestern goodbye! Julia ( the one in red) hosts the podcast and aims to upload it biweekly if and when possible, life permitting.
